A hybrid inverter manages the relationship between solar generation, batteries and the property’s electrical supply. Two models with the same advertised kW rating can have different capabilities. Compare the exact model number and data sheet, not only the brand name.

Match the electrical supply
Single-phase, split-phase and three-phase outputs are different arrangements. An inverter described as “220 V” is not automatically suitable for every property with 110 V and 220 V appliances. Have the supply configuration, voltage and frequency verified before selection.
Check continuous and starting power
The continuous output rating indicates sustained capacity under specified conditions. Motors and compressors may need more power at startup. Ask how the inverter handles your actual pump, refrigeration and air-conditioning loads, including any per-leg limits and backup-output restrictions.
Understand the solar input
MPPT inputs help the inverter track operating points for connected arrays. The maximum PV voltage, operating voltage range and current limits constrain panel and string arrangements. Having spare roof space does not mean another string can be added safely.
Confirm the battery combination
Check battery voltage, supported communication, firmware requirements and charging/discharging limits against current manufacturer documentation. The same connector shape or nominal voltage alone does not prove compatibility. Parallel operation also requires model-specific approval and a coordinated design.
Questions to ask before purchase
- What is the exact inverter model and regional version?
- Which loads are covered by the proposed backup circuits?
- Which battery models are supported?
- What installation, programming and protection are included?
- How will future expansion be accommodated?
Frequently asked questions
Will any hybrid inverter power my house during a blackout?
Do not assume it will. Backup capability depends on the model, battery arrangement, settings and installation.
Can two different inverters be connected in parallel?
Only through a design supported by the relevant manufacturers. Matching wattage is not sufficient.
Browse inverter options and ask Rhema to verify compatibility before ordering.
